此茶特色在於完全手採軟嫩茶菁。其焙製方法獨特，茶葉外觀呈翠綠半球狀，茶湯蜜綠色，起杯聞香即有股高海拔金萱特有的幽雅香氣，茶汤带有其特有的奶香味，入口的感覺為清純甘潤，滿口含芳，喉韻無窮。

注意：金萱的奶香應該是融於茶湯中的，市面上有一種所謂“奶香烏龍茶”，幹茶就能夠聞到明顯的奶香，那是加了香料的原因。
